Day 7 of my Deutschkurs A2

I had a two tests today and I now understand what it means by German strictness in schools. They are rigid in their grading. Hehe. Upon finishing the first test, I had thought I did pretty well but it turns out that if even one word is mispelled or if there is a very slight grammatical mistake, the entire sentence is marked as wrong. -1 pt out of some 30 points. This significantly affected the results of the exam. I made quite a few grammatical mistakes which attributed for -10 pts. Ouch. The same grading methods were applied to the second test.

Many would have thought the grading was too strict and unfair. Honestly, I think it’s rather great. It’s good do have teachers who are blunt about your mistakes. After all, how else could students improve dramatically than to receive a reality check about their progess in the form of a lower test score? Of course, as a student who takes personal accountability for her grade, it only drives me to do a little more studying.
