Currywurst

Well, if you lived in Germany for a while, chances are that you’ve tried some of the local fast food favorites such as Turkish döner kebabs and German currywurst or bratwurst. In the past, my husband and I would occasionally encounter a currywurst booth between home and the nearby university. The aroma of curry filling the air was enough to tempt me into buying this delicious fast food more than a few times. While the meal was cheap, it is even cheaper if you make and cook it yourself.  =) And, it’s even easy! Common sides include noodle salad, fries, or roll. Today, I made fries which really goes well with the curry ketchup.

You’ll need for the currywurst:

- 1 Krakauer sausage

- Curry Ketchup

- Curry Powder

- Butter

As for the fries, go ahead and choose your favorite sytle and brand of fries and prepare them as instructed in the directions on the bag. You’ll want to bake them first since they usually take a little longer to bake than the time need to both prepare and cook the currywurst. While the fries are baking, cut the sausage into even slices. Heat butter in a pan and when it is hot enough, fry the sausage. Cook evenly on both sides until they have a slight crisp. When they have cooked, place them on a dish. Add the curry ketchup on top of each slice of sausage. Then, add curry powder generously over the ketchup. Take the fries out of the oven and serve them along with the currywurst. Guten Appetit!
